Dr. Who, bringing the bow-tie back!

Just 'cuz he thinks its cool! Costume designer Ray Holman, who has designed for Law & Order: UK, Torchwood, and Sherlock, designed the latest Doctors (played by Matt Smith) costume. I personally think this is the best dressed Doctor. Here is the original sketch for the Doctors outfit by Ray Holman
His leather top-lace up ankle boots are my favorite, but I also love his signature dark cranberry bow-tie! Ray Holman does amazing work and I want one of his costumes, mainly one of his jackets.... I am searching the Salvation Army next time I go for a tweed jacket with elbow pads. Also the jacket Holman designed for the BBC's Sherlock was nothing short of a fashion trend this winter-

40's+70's+Paris=Anna Sui Spring 2012

Anna Sui brings us a fantastic Spring 2012 collection this fashion week. A household name Anna always seems to be ahead of the curve, someone editors and other designers look to for trend setting. This collection lives up to my personal expectations of Anna, though I doubt she could ever disappoint. The collection has this 40's had a kid with 70's and moved to Paris vibe, I love it. The bold prints and feminine silhouettes are something she can always be counted on to do well. Check out some of the runway photos I got from the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week website-
I'm loving the butterfly tights on the second to last model, and just the sort of structured airiness(does that make sense?) to this whole collection. You never disappoint me, Anna Sui!  Lindsey Wixson, Jess Stam, Arizona Muse, Karlie Kloss, and Karen Elson where some of the superstar models to hit the runway for this collection. I thought Lindsey Vixson especially looked very sauve and Parisian-like with her lacquered lips outlining the gap tooth she struts proudly down the catwalk.

Impeccably dressed amish pilgrims?

The Aesthete, a new site about fashion and culture, chose Valentines Day to release a movie called Modern. The film is by (and stars) Jon Beasley and Isabelle Albuquerque, and is somewhat of a gothic sci-fi love story about two pilgrim-esque lovers who travel through time?
Watch it for yourself on the site (http://www.theaesthete.com/story/view.dT/modern#) and pay close attention to the  clothes they are wearing... The end of the movie credits big name designers like Yves St Laurent, Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, and Ralph Lauren. Pretty pricey for some amish folk don't ya think? The movie is beautifully made and the original score by Hecuba is a perfect fit. The cinematography is amazing, mostly because it was done by Sundance award winner Bradford Young. Check out some screenshots I took while watching Modern-
